Gilles Garel is tenured Professor of the Chair of Innovation Management at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts), and former Professor of the Department of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship at the Ecole Polytechnique and previously held a position of Professor at the University of Paris Est and also at the school of management of Ottawa University, Canada (by now Telfer School of management). After ENS, he held a PhD at Ecole Polytechnique (1994) and his tenure track (HDR) et IAE University Panthéon Sorbonne (1998). Gilles Garel conducts research into design and innovation management in direct collaboration with firms and innovative organisations in various sectors. He is also a researcher at the LIRSA (Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research into Action Sciences, Cnam) and former director of LIRSA and of the Innovation teaching team at the CNAM. He has published in a range of learned journals and has contributed papers and presentations at numerous conferences and seminars. He is co-author, with co-inventor of the Swatch watch Elmar Mock, of “The Innovation Factory” (2016), and co-author of the Mooc “Manufacturing Innovation” (2017 - 2020).
